About Peter

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. I completed my masters in counseling psychology at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. For the past several years, I have worked in a variety of mental health settings. I have worked extensively with kids and families experiencing crisis. I also have worked in psychiatric hospitals and conducted trainings in de-escalation and crisis management with law enforcement and other agencies.

I’m originally from southern California, where I grew up in a multiracial, Christian family. I studied world religions in college, and spent formative time in the Middle East, immersed in a world of complex identity, meaning, and conflict. It was there that my beliefs about human nature, truth, and relationship became more expansive and more nuanced. This instilled in me a sincere value of the stories we tell about ourselves and the world around us.

It was in college that I first encountered counseling––as a client. I experienced a tremendous amount of healing and insight through therapy. This crystallized my sense of vocation and commitment to finding ways to work with and help people who are struggling.

When not in the office, I enjoy practicing martial arts, reading, backpacking, cooking, baking, and spending time with loved ones. In a past life I was a carpenter and still enjoy the occasional woodworking project.

I look forward to meeting you.
